What’s Stopping Young People from Getting into the Film Industry? at London Film Festival 2020
British Film Institute, 2020

As part of the BFI Young Programmer scheme, I co-programmed a panel discussion on the barriers disadvantaged young people face when trying to get a career in the film and TV industry and what can be done to help undo these issues. The event was part of BFI Film Academy's programme of events at London Film Festival 2020 and featured Sam Fray, Gage Oxley and Christian Cerami as panellists and was chaired by BFI Network's Caragh Davison.

The event looked at common issues faced by young people including a lack of jobs outside London and other urban hubs, a lack of contacts and the difficulties of starting out when you can't afford to sign up for unpaid work. Further questions were also submitted by members of the audience.

As co-programmer, I was responsible for the event from the first stages of planning and proposing through to post-event marketing. I worked with the events, marketing and Film Academy teams to find panellists, create the marketing plan and ensure that each aspect of the event was consistent with the aims originally proposed.
